Academic Services:
Editorial Resources assists clients with academic documents such as dissertations, theses, proposals, and articles for submission to publications. We check for accuracy and formatting issues throughout the document, but specifically focus on content editing to ensure that technical, field-specific data are readily accessible to intelligent readers both within and outside your academic area of study. Often, graduate committees are composed of faculty members from various disciplines who may not be experts in the field from which the topic of the dissertation or thesis is chosen. Editorial Resources works exclusively with academic writers who are either graduate students or faculty members.
ESL Corporate Services:
Editorial Resources assists clients who write corporate documentation that is intended for American readers but that is prepared by writers whose native language is other than English. Writers who speak English as a Second Language (ESL) typically present extremely accurate factual information, but may not present the message clearly and persuasively.
If your firm's corporate material is written by non-native speakers of the English language and is not presented in Standard American English (SAE), you may be at a competitive disadvantage against firms who have professional, English-speaking editors prepare all documentation for external distribution. Editorial Resources is not a translation service. We edit your English text to comply with the subtle but complex nuances of SAE so your content is conveyed without prejudice or misunderstanding.
You always have final editorial control, but we can highlight confusing passages, incorrect usage, misleading statements, incomplete ideas, and any other problems that can easily make your documentation less effective, and thus less competitive, than it must be to garner business for your firm.
Many executives will not take the time to decipher unclear documentation no matter their favorable impression with your firm's reputation. They are too busy and are not willing to invest additional time and resources to clarify information you have written in an ambiguous manner. This impatience may not be fair or even a wise business move, but it is reality. If you know you are the best firm for the job, be sure your documentation does not compromise your ability to reach potential clients and customers. Seemingly insignificant communication issues could mean the difference between success and missed opportunities.
